The Nearpod Community: Is It Worth The Hype?

I love nearpod as a means for introducing new topics to my students. It definitely augments the ways in which i can introduce a topic or skill. Nearpod is being used by some of the school of nursing faculty.

It addresses the need of getting students to collaborate on projects outside of the classroom. It flips the coursework perfectly, in that a homework assignment can be accessed anywhere, anytime on multiple devices. Nearpod gives students the opportunities to safely learn online and engage in collaborative learning opportunities to help them enhance both content knowledge and technology knowledge. Nearpod can be used with any lesson and subject, making it a very versatile site.

Students can actively participate, teachers get valuable feedback, and there's a good content library. Content filters could be better, and it can take time to get familiar with the features. I use nearpod for big picture things like introducing vocab or when we're reading a story together. They really get into the time to climb feature, which is a game built into the system. I break up the story line by line and ask them comprehension questions during the game.
