While most how i met your mother fans would agree that barney stinson has always been problematic, the way he treated quinn garvey exposed that he's also a hypocrite. Quinn, imo, was the best partner for him because it was really like barney was confronting himself and seeing if he could grow as a person enough to maintain a long term relationship. Id argue she was the most important relationship he had in the series!

Barney and quinn had barely any trust between one another. Yes, they could be themselves around each other, but they also weren't a great.
