Walt used a plant called lily of the valley to poison brock, making it appear as if gus fring was responsible. A number of fans came up with an alternate ending theory in which walt dies in the car while attempting to get out of his hideout in new hampshire. This, in my opinion, would have been the perfect ending for the show. When we see jesse drive through the locked gate, he is finally free of walt. The jesse we see throughout the series always having the appearance of free will but deep down he was a prisoner.
